Thought provoking article for someone like me who is a Conservative in the UK. Critical thinking skills can pervade throughout the two camps as well as other camps, likewise with stupidity. Discussion, debate and nuance should be the order of the day whichever side we’re on. More importantly, we should be prepared to change our views when confronted with effective challenges and argumentation.
- As a pro-Life advocate, I have had positive engagement with pro-choice advocates and feminists over the last 30 years. These dialogues are captured in my article on Medium, ‘Aborting Roe v Wade’ and the need for convergence of both sides (you can search for this article when looking at my profile).
- I have written a book entitled, ‘United States of Anger. Why Linda Sarsour’s Rage and Far Left Violence Cannot Move Mountains.’ Available on Amazon Books. Here, I also seek to, and in fact do, engage with those on the Progressive side of the debate. This book was written as a response to the violence that took place after the killing of George Floyd.
- My second book is entitled, ‘BAME - Breaking Through Barriers.’ This is in relation to the race space in the UK and challenging the notion of institutional racism. I have also invited those in the Left of the spectrum to dialogue and debate.
- I have also challenged fellow Conservative compatriots on their anti-Covid vaccine narrative and challenged anti-vaxxers such as Dr. Simone Gold in the US. My article is also on Medium and can be found by searching through my profile. Title, ‘Debunking Dr. Simone Gold and Other Anti-Vaxxers - From a Fellow Conservative Compatriot.’
My experience of engaging with those who disagree with me has been positive, although limited. I have been expecting more engagement from the Left/Liberal/Progressive side of the political spectrum. If you have time to read my books and articles, enjoy the read!
Blessings from the UK.
